Industrial
Transformation Science Plan
-
Industrial Transformation is a core science project of the International
Human Dimensions Programme (IHDP) on Global Environmental Change. It has
resultated in a plan for coordinated research for the period 2000-2005
with the "goal of understanding the ways in which society could combine
economic and social development with the reduction of pressure on the environment".
The plan consists of a chapter outlining the improtant global environmental
changing prompting the research, a chapter outlining the need for multidiciplinary
and systems approaches. There is also chapter on often neglected international
and geographic contexts in which trnasformation ressearch will take place.
And then of course a chapter on research foci. A description of programmatic
links with other research efforts rounds up the main part of the plan.
The report is well referenced and illustrated with tables and graphs.

Studies, Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (The Netherlands). 20030203
